He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin E. Nichols, Sr. and Margaret Moss Nichols; and his grandson Kevin Blake Wall. He is survived by: his wife Karleen Steed Nichols; his children, Michelle Nichols Keilholtz (Mark), Julie Nichols Buird, Stephen Thomas Salley (Candace) and Tara Salley Hasty (Jeff); his grandchildren, Olivia Taylor Buird, Ashley Hasty Tierney (Ashton), Bradley Taylor Hasty (Abby), Carley Jaden Hasty, Madalyn Keilholtz Peavler (Matt), Margaret Mae Keilholtz (Kyle Yarbrough), Madison Maynard (Cody) and Savannah Kaitlyn Harris; his great grandchildren, Milo Wall, Kellin Maynard, Charlie Stagner, Joanna Harris and Boeing Tierney; and his siblings, William "Bill" Nichols and Sally Nichols Shuford (Rick).
