With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Phil Mathis of Augusta, Georgia, born in Aiken, South Carolina, who passed away on October 11, 2021 at the age of 66. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Nellie Beatrice Phillips Richards and Milton Walter Mathis, Sr.. He is survived by: his children, Clay Mathis (Suzanne), Morgan Mathis and Kyle Mathis (Lani Frost); his grandchildren, Caleb Mathis, Madison Williams, Groot and Lucille; his stepfather Ken Richards; his siblings, Sharon Bennett (Gerry) and Walter Mathis (Gail); his nephews, Mikell Dodd, Jared Mathis and Chris Bennett; and his brother-in-law Bruce Hottle.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to the Arthritis foundation in honor of Phil at http://www.arthritis.org.
