He was predeceased by: his true love Margaret Anderson Cooper; his parents, Birdie Cooper and John Cooper; and his siblings, Hammond, Hardrick, George, Jarrell, Ruby, Johnnie, Mary and Marion.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret; his son Jimmy; his daughter-in-law Patsy Cooper; his granddaughters, Tara (Shishir Chokshi), Amy (Nate Baker) and Dana (Greg Brady); his family, Scott, Gabrielle Steves, Ronnie and Becky Breazeale; his great grandchild Cooper Brady; his grandsons-in-law, Shishir Chokshi, Nate Baker, Greg Brady, Scott Steves, Ronnie Breazeale and Jerry Kirkland; and also, Zoe, Meera, Abbigail, Priyanka, Layla Grace, Jordan (Michelle), Rhys, Josephine, Lindsey, Mary, Denny and Christa. He is also survived by "Nanny"— and his son and daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his entire extended family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Platt's Funeral Home - Augusta (721 Crawford Ave, Augusta, GA 30904). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 24th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 24th 2025 at the West View Cemetery (2051 Division St, Augusta, GA 30904).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Crawford Avenue Baptist Church or the American Heart Association, in memory of our beloved Papa, Russell Dempsey Cooper.
