She was predeceased by : her parents, Osbourne Puckett and Mildred Puckett; her brother Lawrence Puckett; and her son Kevin Trout. She is survived by : her husband William A. Howard; her children, Michael Howard (Theresa), Kim Benoit (Michael) and Kathleen Trout Ford; her grandchildren, Kristen Kirkland (Brandon), Michael John Trout (Danielle), Laura Askren (William), Hunter Brooks, Jesse Howard and Matthew Ford; and her daughter-in-law Jamie Trout. She is also survived by several great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Joseph's Indian School, P O Box 326, Chamberlain, SD 57326, an organization Sylvia was passionate about.
