He was predeceased by: his parents, Wesley Daniel Merritt and Hazel Sills Merritt; and his brother James Wesley Merritt. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Lowe Merritt; his sisters, Jackie Smithson (Steve) and Anita Ivie; his daughters, Ashley Lovett (Jason), Jami McMahon (Patrick), Tonya Merritt and Tara Merritt-Merchant (Jay); his grandchildren, Rachel, Chase, Reese, Phoebe, Spencer, Oliver, Holly and Nina; his niece Brittany Swicegood; and his nephews, Justin Smithson and Wes Ivie.
