It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles Edward Akins of Austell, Georgia, born in Columbus, Georgia, who passed away on February 22, 2023, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Akins and Lillie Mae Smith Akins; his wife Betty Smith Akins; and his siblings, Elmer Gene Akins, William Jesse Akins, Thomas Alton Akins, Waymon Junior Akins and Etta Dick.
He is survived by: his children, Roger Akins (Melissa), Cindy Akins Worley (Bill) and Scottie Akins (Deborah); his grandchildren, Brittney Akins, Jennifer Akins (Levi Matthews), Mindy Akins, Bradley Newberry and Dayton Payne; his great grandchildren, Grace Pauline Crisp and Kimber Todd Matthews; and his siblings, Shirley Smith (Kenneth), Linda Van Orden, Robbie Clemons (Terry) and Rayford Akins. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
