He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Kirkland and Beatrice Dozier; his siblings, Hattie Bell Clark, Tom "Tommie" Kirkland Jr., Eddie Lee Kirkland, Adlene "Lena" Douthit, Elbert "Chunk" Kirkland, Mary "Sista" Wynn and Beatrice "Tiny" North; and his cousin Willie Bell Martin.
He is survived by: his brother David Kirkland (Jacqueline); and his children, Andre Kirkland, Andrea Suzanne Kirkland (Jermaine), Marion "Mimi" Mitchell and Kyle Kirkland (Tawanna). He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as other family and friends.
