We are sad to announce that, on May 26, 2026, at the age of 81, William Banks Wingate (Austell, Georgia) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ruth Sims Wingate and James Donald Wingate; his children, Dana Melissa, Melissa Wingate Martinez and Jimmy; his grandchildren, Emma and Ethan; and his siblings, Roslyn Wingate Harrell of Saint Mary's, Vickie Wingate Durham, Emily Wingate Hammack of Moultrie, Jimmy Wingate of Greenville, Jerry Wingate of Valdosta and Deneen Wingate of Savannah.

At the time of his death, he and his daughter were working to set up the William and Alice Wingate Charitable Foundation.
