He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Franklin Cole, Jr. and Sara "Sue" Pharr Cole. He is survived by: his wife Byrd Starr Nussbaum Cole; his children, Hehle Franklin Cole, Edward Pharr "Ward" Cole, Jr. and Rebecca; and his brother Vernon Warren Cole (Susanne).
