He was predeceased by: his parents, James Herman Smith and Ruby Adell Lynn Smith. He is survived by: his wife Julie Heaton Smith; his children, Searcy Norris (Preston), Emma Kate Argo (Cam) and Mitchell Smith (Bree); his brothers, Larry Smith, Guy Smith, Gene Smith and Tim Smith; and his grandchildren, Fuller Norris, Heaton Norris, Lenna Argo, Camden Argo and Harrison Smith.
A funeral service was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home (502 S Scott St, Bainbridge, GA 39819).
Memorial donations may be made in honor of Mitch to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place.
