She was predeceased by: her parents, James Vernon "Bud" Shipes and Willard Beasley Shipes; her husband Henry Wallace Carter; and her son-in-law Felton Nataniel Everett. She is survived by: her children, Vickie Carter Everett of Baxley, Henry Van Carter (Lynda) of Baxley and John Greg Carter (Lori Anne) of Baxley; her brothers, James Denny Shipes (Ann) of Baxley and Glenn Shipes (Donna) of Baxley; her grandchildren, Vickie Serena Everett (Andy Harrelson), Caitlin Lolley (Brad), Henry Van "Chip" Carter (Laci), Kyra Page Carter, Chloe Lane Carter (Dalton Silva), Eleni Michele Cowart, Chandler Ryan Cowart (Maci) and Deacon Elias Cowart (Christina); and her great grandchildren, Harmony Johnson, Adaline Harrelson, Landon Carter, Lucas Carter, Lex Henry Carter, Lynlee Carter, Knox Cason, Brayden Lolley, Kailani Sloan, Carleigh Sloan, Asher Odom, River Silva, Aurora Stark, Delilah Cowart and Milani Cowart.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Swain Funeral Home (1632 Hatch Pkwy N, Baxley, GA 31513). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home (1632 Hatch Pkwy N, Baxley, GA 31513).
