He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Lamar "C. L." Smith and Alma Laverne Yawn Smith; and his brothers-in-law, Timothy Jordan and Edward Walls. He is survived by: his wife Helen Smith of Baxley; his daughter Daphne "Dee Dee" Brannen of Odum; his sisters, Ella Frances of Las Vegas, NV and Cathy Jordan of Baker, FL; his mother-in-law Bobbie Walls of Baxley; his godson J. J. Mincey of Gainesville, FL; and his son-in-law Jon Priest of Alma.
