He was predeceased by: his siblings, Clara Yarbrough, Fred and Melvin Spell; and his son-in-law Dan Thornton. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Bennett Spell of Baxley; and his daughters, Misty Thornton Dukes (Glenn) of Baxley and Bridgett Claiborne (T. J.) of Chesterfield, Virginia. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
