She was predeceased by: her parents, Justin H. Gowan, Sr. and Lottie Ruth Gowan; her husband Jack Pierce; her daughter Cindy Ann Mathews; her granddaughter Farrah Spivey; her brother Jimmy Roy Gowan (Charlie Ruth Gowan); and her brothers-in-law, Wayne Aunspaugh, Sr. and Ben Tyler.
She is survived by: her children, Carol Pettis (Jason) and Alex Barfield (Mylan); and her siblings, Justin Gowan (Kristal), Mamie Tyler and Marion Aunspaugh. She is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 5th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home Chapel (21802 Lucile Rd, Blakely, GA 39823). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 6th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
