Joe Bernice Boatright Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joe Bernice Boatright of Blackshear, Georgia, born in Mershon, Georgia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 11, 2025 at the age of 89. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Bernice and Gertie Irene White Boatright; and his daughters, Rose Ann Thornton and Shari Henderson. He is survived by: his daughter Abby Boatright Walker of Blackshear; his grandchildren, James Allen "Skipper" Davis III, Jody Thornton (DeAnna), Hannah Boatright (Doug) and Payton Walker; his great grandchildren, Jecht, Freya, Jax Thornton and Kaley Brooke Boatright; and his close friends, Allen, Amber, Harley and Avery Turner of Baxley. He is also survived by several other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Pearson-Dial Chapel (659 Main St, Blackshear, GA 31516). A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (http://www.stjude.org), as Mr. Boatright was a devoted supporter of their work, particularly their care for children in our community, including Miss Amris Bedford.
