With sadness, we share the passing of Shelvie Velie of Blackshear, Georgia. Shelvie, born on January 3, 1938 in Poulan, Georgia, passed away on October 11, 2026. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Shelvie Velie to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John David "JD" and Ernestine Peavy May; her significant other Rev. Andrew "Andy" Velie; and her son Roger Velie. She is survived by: her daughter Lisa; her children-in-law, Chris Braden of Haymarket, VA and Cindy Velie of Waycross; her sister Jacqueline Iniguez-Davis of Lake City, FL; and her grandchildren, Sabrina Peet (Dave), Marie Jacobs (Brad), Becky Causey (Eric), Jennifer Beasley (Brian), Jet Thornton and Samantha Jordan (Austin). She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren; 10 great, great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 2:00 PM. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Pearson-Dial Chapel (659 Main St, Blackshear, GA 31516).
