We announce the death of Sylvia Turner of Blackshear, Georgia, born in Jesup, Georgia, who passed away on October 8, 2026, at the age of 84. Sylvia will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Ervin and Isabelle Roberson Smith; her husband James Lamar Turner; her son Anthony Scott Turner; her brother Ronald C. Smith; and her brother-in-law Roy Todd.
She is survived by: her children, James Lamar Jamie'Turner, Jr. of Blackshear and Alison Turner Long of Blackshear; her siblings, Rose Ann Todd of Blackshear, Roger Smith (Loretta) of Douglasville and Harrell Smith (Donna) of Patterson; her sister-in-law Linda Smith of Waycross; her grandchildren, Blair Hubbard, Payton Turner (Ashlie), Allie Caroline Castoe (Wyatt) and Anna Claire Long; and her great grandchildren, Addison Hubbard, Kayleigh Hubbard, Amelia Turner, Cara Turner, Turner Hubbard, Steele Wetherington and Marlee Turner. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Pearson-Dial Chapel (659 Main St, Blackshear, GA 31516). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
