With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John Young of Blakely, Georgia, born in Saint Joseph, Missouri, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 13, 2025 at the age of 91. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Kenneth Young and Winifred Young. He is survived by: his wife Geneva Young; his son Terry Johnson (Judy) of Columbia, AL; his grandchildren, Kimberly McFay (Jeff) of Blakely, GA and Leslie James (Phil) of Greenwood, SC.; his great grandchildren, Bailley Holley (Dalton) of Atlanta, GA, Owen McFay of Blakely, GA, Kendall James of Greenwood, SC, Karlie Dean of Greenwood, SC and Brody James of Greenwood, SC; his great great grandchild Parker Holley of Atlanta, GA.; and his sister Sara Bowman of Colorado Springs, CO..
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home (21802 Lucile Rd, Blakely, GA 39823). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the Bereavement fund at First Baptist Church or Georgia Hospice Care.
