He was predeceased by: his parents, Earnest Candler McNeal and Callye Dora Mclaney McNeal; his sister Betty Jean McNeal Hughes; his nephew Grady Lanier Hughes Jr.; and his great grandchild Leah Layne Pope.
He is survived by: his spouse Latane Pitts; his children, Michael Evans McNeal (Karen) of Blakely, David Russell McNeal (Debra) of Blakely and Carol Jean McNeal Wright (Lawrence) of St. Augustine, FL.; and his niece Barbara Jean Hughes of Hartford, AL.. He is also survived by five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren.
