He was predeceased by: his adoptive parents, Joe Payne and Emma Howard Payne; his brother Ronald "Ronnie" Payne; and his mother Burch Lowe Suthard. He is survived by: his wife Sandy Payne; his children, Angie Holcombe (late Craig B.), Amy Kinard and Jason Payne; his siblings, Janet Leggett, Ann Coleman, June Cutshall, Jonathan Suthard and James "Bo" Payne; Kellie Lindsey. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
