It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Evelyn (Evie) Ponton-Abernathy of Blue Ridge, Georgia, born in Manhattan, New York, who passed away on August 2, 2024, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Angel Ponton and Eugenia Montero Ponton; and her siblings, Cynthia Andrade, Angelo Ponton, Carlos Ponton and David Ponton.
She is survived by: her husband Clifford Abernathy; her daughter Annette Otero Rivera; her son-in-law Roberto Otero Rivera of Hiawassee, Georgia; her son Jeremiah Nathaniel Abernathy; her daughter-in-law Patricia Tennison Abernathy; and her sisters, Martha Louise Anglerau of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Maria Ponton Guarantiva of Davie, Florida and Elizabeth Ponton Simpon of Mayaguez.
