He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Henry Sneed and Bertha Cornelia Nix; his uncle Gene Buchanan; and his sister Dorothy Laney (Penny). He is survived by: his wife Cathy Nix of McCaysville, Georgia; his daughters, Laura Sheriff (Tommy) of Ellijay and Julie Jarrett (Joshua) of McCaysville, Georgia; his grandchildren, Jake Avery Sheriff, Carter Sheriff, Tyler, Isaac and Emma Jarrett; his sister Ellen Lockhart; his nieces, Tania Little and Jessica Dukes; and his close friend Fred Hadley.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM at the Ivie Funeral Home (194 Peachtree St, Murphy, NC 28906). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
