He was predeceased by: his parents, John Simpson "Simp" Thomas, Sr. and Novella Bennett Thomas. He is survived by: his grandson Byran; his wife June; his son Ron of Rocky Mount; his daughter-in-law Debbie Thomas of Rocky Mount; his grandsons, Bryan Thomas (Kimberly) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Erik Thomas (Kelci) of Raleigh; his great grandchildren, Brooks and Brody Thomas; and his sister Shirley Panter of Blue Ridge. He is also survived by his five nieces and nephews.
