He was predeceased by: his parents, Leona Stockholm Mitchell and James Lester Mitchell Sr.; his siblings, John Dwight Mitchell, James Lester Mitchell Jr. and Leona Maureen Mitchell; and his wife Janice.

He is survived by: his brother Robert E. Mitchell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 18th 2026 at 2:30 PM at the Cherry Log Christian Church (1149 Cherry Log St, Cherry Log, GA 30522).
