He was predeceased by: his parents, William Forest Whitaker and Louise Anderson Whitaker; his daughter Melody Nunnary; and his sister Betty June Riley. He is survived by: his wife Iris Whitaker; his niece Beverly Riley Whitaker; his grandchildren, Rachel McDonald, Dylan and Jonathan Watkins; and his siblings-in-law, Jerry Newman (Phyllis), Joy Newman Meyer and Janice Newman Corley. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
