He was predeceased by: his father George Acuff. He is survived by: his brothers, Bill and Buel; his former wife Phyllis Jo Smith Acuff; his wife Marion Bond West; his children, Jo Shelly, Rod and Taylor; his grandchildren, Kari, Jim, Summer and Dawn; his stepchildren, Julie (Rick), Jennifer (Charlie), Jon and Jeremy; and his grandchildren, Jamie, Katie, Thomas, Alex, Luke and Libby. He is also survived by seven great- grandchildren.
