He was predeceased by: his parents, William Gerstenlauer and Dorothy Gerstenlauer; his brothers, David and Jesse Gerstenlauer; and his son Steve Gerstenlauer Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Becky Chandler; his children, Michael Gerstenlauer (Mary) of Carrollton, Mark Gerstenlauer of Pindergrass, Brian Gerstenlauer of Canton, Nikia Angel (Jose) of Carrollton and Felicia Smith (Shannon) of Tallapoosa; his grandchildren, Haven Weber, Nicole Parrish, Samantha Hartley, Belle Hartley, Hunter Prewett, Caden Gerstenlauer, Joselyn and Tristan Prewett; his great grandchildren, Bryson, Camreigh, Finn Parrish and Louella Hartley; and his sisters, Dorothy Adams (Thomas) and Lois Odom (Wilson).
In lieu of flowers donations can made to the Wounded Warriors Project or the ASPCA. Both were near and dear to his heart as he made yearly donations to both.
