He was predeceased by: his significant other Donna Jackson; his mother Marie Kirkland; his uncle Henry; and his aunt Frances Vickery. He is survived by: his daughters, Kelly Robertson (Chris), Kristi Hurley (Marc) and Karen Jackson; his granddaughters, Charlotte Robertson, Amelia Robertson and Cora Hurley; his sister Betty Lewis (Freddy); his nephew Will Dickson; his niece Pam Waller; his close friend Ty Thompson; and his pet Gracie.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to either Flat Shoals Baptist Church or Special Olympics, which was a cause close to his heart.
