He was predeceased by : his parents, Ira Lee Baird and Eulene Grier Baird; his wife Hettie Loraine Simmons Baird; his siblings, Clarice Wheeler, Jack and Norman Baird; and his great grandchild Zane Daniel Hightower.

He is survived by : his daughters, Sherry Elliott (Donnie) of Jefferson and Pamela Hightower of Braselton; his grandchildren, Adrian Hightower, Terry Hightower, Matthew Hightower, Christian Stewart, Chasity Foster and Hannah Ballew; his great grandchildren, Cowen Hightower, Nathan Hightower, Ryleigh Hightower, Zoey Jane Hightower, Riley Ballew and Dakota Stewart; and his brother Randall Baird of Braselton.
