He is survived by: his wife Mary Vail of Patterson; his children, Eldren Jenkins (Nakisha), Lawanda Jones, James Vail, Jr. (Laparris) and Sayward Vail; his grandchildren, Tommie Miller, Jr., Eureka Bowen-Lindley (Darius), Laparris Jones, Kenneth Jenkins, Gabion Copeland (Jessye), Morris Madison, Jamontae Vail, Dezmon Hardy (Kristian), Cheslea Madison, Nechyna Baker, Sha'dana and Shavez Warren; his siblings, Lindsay Vail (Catherine), John Vail (Ellen) and Patricia Walthour (Samuel); his aunts, Helen Vail Williams and Elizabeth Kelly; his siblings-in-law, Wanda Scott (Johnnie), Minister Vandella Harris, Omega Jenkins, Minnie McBride, Frank Jenkins (Frankie), Larry Jenkins, Lovie Jenkins (Ticaria), Michael Jenkins (Dorthy), Jackie Jenkins (Ruby) and John D. Myles; and his goddaughter Briana Jernigan. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
