He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Girard and Gladys Caver Gerard. He is survived by: his wife Janet Hand Gerard; his sons, T. J. Gerard and Dane Hand; and his cousin Gilbert Caver. He is also survived by many extended family, friends.
Until the pandemic, Gil and his family would help local charities in making and delivering meals to homebound residents in the west Georgia area.
