He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Waters and Vivian Ware Waters; and his sister Kathy Waters Robertson. He is survived by: his wife Jacqlynn Waters of Buford, GA; and his sister Nonie Turner of Tignall, GA. He is also survived by numerous friends and nieces and nephews.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society in memory of John M. Waters.
