He was predeceased by: his parents, David Stokes and Lucille Stokes; his former wife Quinelle Yeomans Stokes; his grandson Luke Stokes; his brother H. L. Stokes; his sister-in-law Martha Stokes; his siblings, J. N. Stokes and Betty Stokes Maye Wilkes; his siblings-in-law, Robert E. Maye, Winfred Norris, Tillman Manning and Seabie Wilkes; his daughter Lynn Rowland Wright (Michael Wright); his sons-in-law, Wes Conner and Ted Schubert; and his siblings' children, Lamar Stokes and Paulette Stokes Stinson.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Rowland Stokes; his children, Connie Stokes Storey (Tommy), Chris Stokes (Marsha), Gwen Stokes Monroe (Kevin), Angela Rowland Conner and Shannon Rowland Schubert; his grandchildren, Neilie Rogers, Heather Rogers, Shane Stokes (Christy), Danna Stokes Pearson (Sean), Ashley Craddock, Josh Monroe (Danielle), Lindsey Monroe, Mallory Wright Herrick (Matthew), Holly Wright Jordan (Randy), Madison Conner, Mary Wesley Conner, Morgan Schubert Walker (Cody), Sean Schubert and Jackson Schubert; and his sister-in-law Betty Sauls Stokes. He is also survived by nineteen great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and many, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
