He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard W. Sims and Dula Sims (Ingram); and his siblings, Howard W. Sims, Jr. (Doris) and Martha Pomeroy (Sid). He is survived by: his wife Ruth Vickers Sims; his daughters, Rhonda Addington (Mark) of Nashville, GA and Rebecca Zillman (Marcus) of Lakeland, FL; and his grandchildren, Wesley Addington (Natalie) of Hahira, GA, Marilyn, Marissa Zillman of Lakeland, FL and Samantha Elliott of Atlanta, GA.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Fellowship Hall of the Cairo First Methodist Church (318 S Broad St, Cairo, GA 39828). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Cairo First Methodist Church (318 S Broad St, Cairo, GA 39828).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be donated to the Alzheimer's Association, donorservices.alz.org, Cairo First Methodist Church, or the Carnation Foundation, carnationfoundation.org.
