He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Paul Childers and Bessie Hightower Childers; his brother Willard; his sister-in-law Barbara Childers; and his nephew Adam Childers.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Kirby Childers; his children, Paula Thomason (Hugh) and Kevin Childers (April); his brother Kenneth Childers (Jane); and his grandchildren, Autumn Garrett, Brandon Thomason, Drew Childers and Blake Childers. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 7th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home (535 Red Bud Rd NE, Calhoun, GA 30701). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Victory Temple Church of God (604 Lovers Lane Rd SE, Calhoun, GA 30701).
