He was predeceased by: his father William "Bill" Brooks; his grandmother Evelyn Brooks; his aunt Linda Moore; his uncles, Steve Brooks, Gail Whitener and Bill Whitener; and his grandmother Juanita Whitener.

He is survived by: his partner Kim Vaughn Nance of Calhoun, GA; his daughter Amanda Brooks Rauch of Birchwood, TN; his mother Sandra Whitener Brooks of Chatsworth; his aunts and uncles, June, Terry Cox and Bill Moore; and his friends, Ronnie Byrd and Billy Hudson.
