With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Laura Willene Bethune Blackmon of Calhoun, Georgia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 23, 2026 at the age of 97. She was predeceased by: her parents, Elbert A Bethune and Ethel Bethune of Alabama; her husband Rev. George Delma Blackmon; her son Doyle Waylon Blackmon; her siblings, Letha Mae Simpson, Betty Jean Coalson, Jeanette Peek, Carl Bethune, Hoyt Bethune, Jessie Bethune, Dewey Bethune and Kenneth Bethune; and her son-in-law Roger Serritt.
She is survived by: her children, George Edwin "Eddie" Blackmon, Shyrel Serritt Holsomback (Don) and Glenda Sue Cuzzort (Denny); her caregivers, Jennifer Cuzzort and Peggy Greeson; and her granddaughter Tammy Trawick. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren; lots of nieces and nephews.
