He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton Clarence Herndon and Amanda Naoma Herndon (Moss); his wife Carolyn Mims Herndon (Clark); his son Jeffery Bruce Herndon; his son-in-law Burness W. Dalton (B. W.); and his siblings, Hoyle Herndon, Donnie Herndon, Edna Satterfield and Bernice Payne.

He is survived by: his daughter Robin Dalton; and his siblings, Edward Herndon, Danny Herndon, Shirley Kirby, Bennie Bell and Linda Mabry (Lonnie).
