He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Hicks and Evelyn Hicks Hensley; his sisters, Barbara Loggins and Joyce Martin; his niece Myra Blevins; and his brother-in-law Richard Cordell.

He is survived by: his wife Dianne Hicks; his daughters, Stacey Hicks Abernathy (Randy) and Patti Gilmer (Thomas Schwartz); his grandchildren, Neeley Abernathy Brooks, Grant Gilmer, Molly Gilmer, Jake Abernathy Joshua Schwartz and Weston Schwartz; his sister-in-law Debbie Cordell; his niece Rita Loggins; and his nephews, Darrall Loggins and Chase Cordell.
