He is survived by : his wife Doris (Camelia Gardens); his children, Carrie and Daaron Vanstone (Catherine); his grandchildren, Garrett Crozier (Leslie), Haleigh Crozier (Branden) and Henry Vanstone; and his great grandchild Aiden Scott. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Diane Hooper wrote a sympathy message

“It broke my heart to hear this kind gentleman had passed away. I got to know him when he taught my son Jon in elementary school and then again in high school. When Jon was Star Student he picked Mr. Vanstone as his pick for teacher. They became good friends, stayed in touch and often had lunch together when they could. He made a difference in my son’s life and for that I have been thankful. The world is a sadder place for the loss of this man. I will always remember to add him to my prayers.”
