It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Sue Bates of Canton, Georgia, born in Blue Ridge, Georgia, who passed away on February 27, 2023, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father Manuel Levi McVey; and her siblings, Louise Stanley, Peggy Floyd, Jean Slater, Inez Smith, Loyd McVey, Pete McVey and Bill McVey.
She is survived by: her son Andy; her daughter-in-law Holly Bates of Canton; her daughter Brooke; her son-in-law Travis Shelton of Canton; and her brothers, Kenneth (Sue McVey) and Edward McVey of West Jefferson, NC. She is also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
