Bill Byess Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Bill Byess (Canton, Georgia), who passed away on October 2, 2025 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Byess and Effie Byess; his former wife Annelle Byess; his children, Mike Byess, Harold Byess and Cindy Dupree; his grandson Clint Byess; and his daughter-in-law Elaine Byess.
He is survived by: his wife Jean Byess; his children, Sherri Hilton (Brooks) and Joe Byess (Selena); his daughter-in-law Lisa Byess; his daughter Christi Pettway; and his siblings, Geneel Nix and Don Byess. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; as well as beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, on Saturday, October 4th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM and on Sunday, October 5th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Sosebee Funeral Home (191 Jarvis St, Canton, GA 30114). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 5th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Bethesda Baptist Church (158 Reavis Mountain Rd, Ball Ground, GA 30107).
Flowers will be accepted or in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Bethesda Baptist Church.
