She was predeceased by: her husband Robert Franklin Brown, Jr. (Bobby); her parents, Emily Shirling Carter and Thomas Frederick Carter; her brother Joseph "Joe" Carter; and her son-in-law Will Cavender.

She is survived by: her daughters, Vivian Vance (Bob), Elaine Cavender and Sylvia Short (Dave); and her grandchildren, Chris Tuck, Lindsay Holloway (Jonathan), Wes Vance (Shelby), Sydney Allanson (Christian) and James Vance. She is also survived by in-laws, cousins, many nieces and nephews and special friends.
