He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Garner and Ruth Garner; his granddaughter Annie Watwood; and his sisters, Sara Garner and Helen Garner Mackey.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy H. Garner; and his children, Sherre Watwood (David), Brad Garner (Jamie), Craig Garner (Joyce) and Curt Garner (Erica).
