It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James O. Burton of Canton, Georgia, born in Tignall, Georgia, who passed away on March 21, 2026, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Louise Burton (Walker); his parents, Montie Burton and Thelma Burton; and his siblings, Carroll Burton, Mack Burton, Ray Burton and Rebecca Reese (Burton).
He is survived by: his son Scott; his daughter-in-law Julie Burton; his daughter Lauri Burton; his grandchildren, Grant Burton, Hunter Burton and Amanda Watson (Burton); his siblings-in-law, Teddy Reese and Annie Florence Burton (Land); and his nieces and nephews, Roger Burton, Perry Burton, Billy Walker, Sandra Inglett (Burton), Tracy Ansley (Reese), Carla Cole (Reese) and Bonnie Baskett.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home.
