He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold McElroy and Opal McElroy Quick; his stepfather Bill Quick; and his siblings, Arnold W. and Louise Bagley.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda McElroy; his children, Stephen McElroy (Lisa), Laura Jackson (Andy) and Scott McElroy (Patty); his grandchildren, James, Morgan, Halee, Samuel, Katelynn, Destiny (John), Lexie and Taylor; his great grandchildren, Zaylen, Maxton, Shelby, Maleah, Madyson and Ian; his siblings, Melinda Croft (Junior), Glenda Sweat (Billy) and David McElroy; and his brother-in-law Michael Fowler. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.

Due to COVID-19 facial coverings are required, no food is permitted and limited seating is available due to social distancing requirements.
