She was predeceased by: her parents, Floyd Hefner and Bertha Ozelle Hefner; and her brothers, Donald Hefner and Gary Hefner. She is survived by: her husband Larry Bates; her sons, Scott Bates and Christopher McKenzie-Bates; her son-in-law Cameron McKenzie-Bates; and her siblings, Barbara McGaha, Sue Burgess (W. T.), Floyd Hefner Jr., Jesse Hefner, Joe Hefner (Teresa) and Bobby Hefner (Marlene). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sosebee Funeral Home (191 Jarvis St, Canton, GA 30114). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
