He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Ellis and Eugenia Ellis; his sister Frankie Crawford; and his parents-in-law, Paul Gordon Butterfield and Carol Abbott Butterfield.
He is survived by: his wife Tammy Ellis; his sons, William Paul Ellis (Sarah Lim) and James Thomas Ellis; his brothers, Floyd Ellis (Doris) and Leon Ellis (Belida); and his siblings-in-law, Paula Maddock (Les), Greg Butterfield (Robyn), Sue Cook (Paul), Lynn Butterfield (Sue) and David Butterfield (Martha). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends.
