It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Ruth Sowell of Canton, Georgia, who passed away on June 10, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Joe Batten and Mary Edna Hendrix Batten; her husband Johnny Edward Sowell, Sr.; her children, Sheryle Perkins and Johnny E. Sowell, Jr.; and her sisters, Mary Irene Prichard, Junell Sechrest, Myra Jo Batten and Deloris Janousek.
She is survived by: her sons, Michael (Caroline Sowell) and Joe (Michelle Sowell); her sister Sonja Crump of Lakeland, FL; her grandchildren, Mark Sowell, Sharon Sowell, Blake Sowell (Taylor), Bryce Sowell (Sheena), Emily Sowell, Hunter Sowell (Kennedy) and Tyler Perkins; and her great grandchildren, Mark Sowell, Jr., Serena Sowell, Chelsea Sowell, Amiyah Renfroe, Liam Sowell, Lailah Sowell and Parker Sowell. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 14th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home (659 Main St, Blackshear, GA 31516). A reception will be held on Saturday, June 14th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
