He was predeceased by: his parents, Bill Bates and Fran Bates. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Bates; his children, Ashley Mooney (Jessica), Jessica Weber and Justin Mooney; his grandchildren, Abby Lee, Jake Lee, Aaron Lee, Willow Mooney, Asher Mooney, Silas Weber, Lulu Weber, Odin Mooney and Tyr Mooney; his brother Kim Bates (Karen Beedle); his nephews, Shannon Bates and Seth Bates (Myra); and his great-niece Kendra. He is also survived by cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
